5 Important Things to Know When Buying a Used Laptop: Avoid 3 Years Old

When buying a used laptop, there are a few things you should know so you don't get caught up in the lure of a good look.

For that, pay attention to the following things so you don't regret it in the future.

Here are 5 important things to know when buying a used laptop or computer, as quoted from Business Insider, Saturday, February 20, 2021,

1. Avoid laptops that are more than 3 years old

2. Pay attention to the specifications

If you get a laptop that is several years old, you may find it difficult to judge, especially not keeping up with computer technology.

- The most important thing is to avoid computers with hard disk drives (HDD). Consider a solid state drive (SSD) with a minimum size of 128 GB.

- For processors, look for a 7th generation Intel Core CPU or later. This can be seen by the number -7000, -8000 or higher, such as the Intel Core i5-8400.

- Look for full HD IPS screens.

3. Check laptop battery

The most important component in a laptop is the battery. Battery damage is the most common reason why someone sells their laptop.

If you buy a used laptop, do a battery test, make sure it can be fully charged, then run the laptop until the battery runs out.

4. Erase the hard drive before using the laptop

To avoid malware on the HDD, it is better to delete the data on the HDD before using a used laptop.

5. Buy a laptop that has been updated (updated)

You may be able to find used and reconditioned or refurbished laptops. Refurbished laptops or PCs have been inspected to make sure they work, come with a warranty, and often worn parts are replaced to return them to like-new condition.***
